전남대학교 치의학전문대학원(원장 강병철 이하 치전원)과 바이오미네랄장애연구센터(센터장 고정태)는 지난 13일 전남 치전원 임상교육관 5층 평강홀에서 ‘International Symposium on Biomineralization’라는 주제로 국제심포지움을 개최했다.
이번 심포지움에는 미국, 일본 중국, 홍콩 및 국내에서 15명의 저명 과학자가 초청됐으며, 교수, 학생 및 연구원 등 150여 명이 참여한 가운데 생체 내 다양한 무기질화 과정과 임플란트 개발에 대한 최신 지견을 교환했다.
첫 번째 세션은 뼈 조직에서의 무기질화에 대한 주제로 진행됐으며, 중국 대련대 Xin Liang 교수가 ‘Sensory innervation and trabecular structures integration around immediately vs. delayed loaded implants’을 발표했다.
또한 전남 치전원 구강해부학 김선헌 교수가 ‘Relaxin: more than connective tissue turnover’를, 일본 동북대 소아치과 Takashi Nakamura 교수가 ‘Novel smoothened agonists promote osteoblast differentiation in C3H10T1/2 cells and osteoblastic cells from Runx2-deficient mice’를 발표했다.
아울러 일본 동북대 두경부 발생 및 재생학과 Yasuyuki Sasano 교수가 ‘Remodeling of extracellular matrices and biomineralization during bone development and healing’를, 서울 치전원 분자유전학 류현모 교수가 ‘The combination of epigenetic modifications and canonical WNT signaling enables direct programming of non-osteogenic cells into osteoblasts’을 제목으로 하는 최근 연구 내용을 발표했다.
치아와 연골에서의 무기질화를 주제하는 두 번째 세션에서는 경북 치전원 구강생화학 김재영 교수가 ‘Genome wide screening and functional evaluation of signaling molecules involved in tooth development’를, 전남 치전원 보존과 황윤찬 교수가 ‘Approach to the preservation of pulp vitality’를 발표했다.
또한 연세대 생명시스템대학 생화학 김대원 교수가 ‘A novel approach for osteoarthritis prevention and modification’를, 전남 치전원 치과약리학 류제황 교수가 ‘Low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 5 governs Wnt-mediated osteoarthritic cartilage destruction’라는 제목의 열띤 강의를 펼쳤다.
생체 재료 및 조직 재생 분야의 세 번째 세션에서는 홍콩대 치과재료학 James Kit-hon Tsoi 가 ‘Development of osseointegratable electrospun PLLA biocomposite materials’를, 전북 치전원 치과재료학 배태성 교수가 ‘Surface modification of titanium implants’를, 대웅제약 유현승 대표이사가 ‘Development of bone graft substitutes in Korea’를 발표했다.
또한 전남 치전원 치과재료학 박영준 교수가 ‘Strategy of titanium alloy design for tailored implant surface and osteoconductivity enhancement’에 대해 발표해 참석자들의 큰 호응을 얻었다.
이번 국제심포지움은 전남대 치의학연구소, 4D연구소, RIS센터, 치과재료학연구소가 후원했으며, 전남 치전원의 자매 결연대학인 동북대, 홍콩대, 대련대에서 해외 초청연자로 나서 교내 연구력 증진과 자매 결연대학과의 학술 교류 측면에서 많은 성과가 있었다.
